Tight / Close Fit Lining

Rolldown and Subline methods are two common techniques used to install polyethylene (PE) linings in pipes. These methods are used to install both fully structural and thin-walled pipe liners. Here’s a general overview of the process:

ROLLDOWN METHOD:

In this method, a PE liner is rolled down into the existing pipe using a winch or similar device. The liner is typically folded or rolled onto a reel or spool, and then fed into the pipe through an access point. Once the liner is in position, it is inflated using compressed air or water pressure, which causes it to expand and press against the inside of the pipe. This creates a new pipe within the existing pipe, and the pressure causes the liner to adhere to the pipe walls. Once the liner is in place, any excess material is trimmed away, and the ends of the liner are sealed.

SUBLINE METHOD:

In this method, a PE liner is pulled into the existing pipe using a cable or similar device. The liner is typically folded or rolled onto a reel or spool, and then fed into the pipe through an access point. As the liner is pulled through the pipe, it is inflated using compressed air or water pressure, which causes it to expand and press against the inside of the pipe. This creates a new pipe within the existing pipe, and the pressure causes the liner to adhere to the pipe walls. Once the liner is in place, any excess material is trimmed away, and the ends of the liner are sealed.

Both the Rolldown and Subline methods are suitable for a range of pipe sizes and shapes and are used by Mainline to install both fully structural and thin-walled pipe liners. These methods offer several advantages over traditional pipe repair methods, including reduced disruption to the surrounding area, faster installation times, and improved resistance to corrosion and wear. Additionally, PE liners are highly durable and resistant to chemical and environmental degradation, making them a cost-effective solution for rehabilitating damaged or deteriorating pipes.
