CIPP Short Patch Repairs

A CIPP short patch repair is a specialized method of repairing small sections of damaged or deteriorated underground pipelines without the need for excavation or replacement of the entire pipeline: Here’s a general overview of the process:

INSPECTION:

The first step in point repair is to inspect the damaged section of the pipeline to identify the location and extent of the damage. This may involve using specialized equipment such as cameras or sensors to assess the condition of the pipe.

CLEANING AND PREPARATION:

Once the damaged section of the pipeline has been identified, it must be cleaned and prepared for repair. This may involve removing any debris or build-up from the damaged area and ensuring that the surrounding pipe is free of any contaminants.

INSTALLATION OF REPAIR MATERIAL:

Point repair typically involves inserting a specially designed repair material, such as a fiberglass or epoxy liner, into the damaged section of the pipeline. This liner is typically custom-fitted to the size and shape of the damaged area and is inserted into the pipeline through a small access point.

INFLATION AND CURING:

Once the liner is in place, it is inflated to the appropriate size and shape, conforming to the walls of the pipeline. The liner is then cured, typically through the use of heat or UV light, which causes it to harden and adhere to the inside of the pipeline.

INSPECTION AND TESTING:

After the repair material has cured, the pipeline is inspected to ensure that the repair has been successful and the pipeline is functioning properly. This may involve using cameras or sensors to inspect the repaired area and conducting pressure tests to ensure that the pipeline is structurally sound. Point repair can be an effective method of repairing small sections of underground pipelines, as it minimizes the need for excavation and disruption to the surrounding area. However, it is important to note that point repair may not be appropriate for all types of damage or deterioration, and more extensive repairs or replacement may be necessary in some cases.
